Counselling & Psychotherapy
My approach to therapy is integrative, which means I draw from various therapeutic orientations depending on the goals and needs of each client. Each one of us faces various emotional and psychological challenges throughout life; stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, loss, addiction, shame, existential concerns, and sometimes it can feel like too much. These challenges can limit our ability to lead fulfilling lives and to engage in satisfying relationships. Therapy can be a supportive and encouraging relationship that can help us get unstuck and build a full and meaningful life. Therapy can help with healing and personal growth by providing a safe space to reflect and can also help us develop new skills and perspectives.
A Space for Self-Reflection
I offer a safe and non-judgmental space for people to reflect on they’re lives and the challenges there facing. By giving time and space to explore our thoughts, feelings and choices we can gain a greater self understanding. By developing more self-awareness, we can identify unhelpful beliefs and patterns that may be stifling our capacity to live full and fulfilling lives. For some people this can involve exploring their past, taking time to process and learn from their history. This can be a vital part of healing for many people, helping them move on with more understanding and greater freedom. Through understanding ourselves better we can grow in self-efficacy, self-esteem and self compassion.
New Skills & Perspectives
Therapy can be an opportunity to learn practical tools, techniques and problem-solving skills that can help people to manage better, and cultivate resilience. To this end I guide people out of old destructive patterns and cultivate new ways of handling adversity. Bringing care and attention to our experience is the first step in learning how to take better care of ourselves. This involves learning to observe the interplay between our thoughts, actions, and emotions. This way we learni to be more deliberate about how we relate to ourselves and the choices we are making. Through this process we can cultivate the skills and inner resources that that support greater well-being and emotional regulation.
